Clinical Librarian Service

Meet our Clinical Librarians:

Corinne Miller, MLIS   Denise Nunes, MS RN, MSLIS
Who We Are:
In 2015 Galter Library and Feinberg’s Medical Education Department identified an opportunity to enhance access to information in clinical care decision-making settings. The Clinical Librarian Service (CLS) was formed, embedding Clinical Librarians in Medicine’s patient rounds and Morning Report.

What We Do:
CLS provides our clinicians, faculty, fellows, residents and students with real-time access to evidence-based research, impacting decision making and patient care. We conduct searches to identify resources that will answer questions in real time.

How We Do It:
We offer virtual rounding support to Medicine and Dermatology. On October 1, 2024, we will expand our services to include a Clinical Support Chat, text and email offered to all those with a Feinberg appointment working in inpatient or outpatient settings.

TL;DR:
We are the humans helping you connect the dots when it comes to evidenced based clinical practice. Chat, text or email us with any questions related to patient care and clinical decision making!

Examples of Questions for the CLS

CLS welcomes inquiries related to therapy, diagnosis, prognosis, etiology, guidelines, and any additional areas related to clinical care. CLS has aided teams by providing evidence for the following questions:

  • In patients with E-cigarette- or vaping-use-associated lung injury (EVALI), what are the radiographic findings and clinical presentation?
  • How should hemodialysis be managed for pregnant patients with ESRD and severe hypertension?
  • How often do we see multiple myeloma without a protein gap in the peripheral blood?
  • What is the incidence and usual onset time of beta-lactam neurotoxicity?
